Help For Missouri Libertarian Party Candidates

Thank you for considering a run for elective office as a Libertarian.

Here is a short list of resources the Missouri LP brings to the table to assist you in your run for office.

1. The Missouri LP is an established political party with ballot access. This makes it easier to run for office. All you need to do is:

  • Be qualified for the office.
  • File to run for office with the Secretary of State or your County Clerk.
  • Pay a filing fee. The filing fee is required by State Statute and goes to the Missouri Libertarian Party.

Filing for office starts February 23rd and ends March 30th.

Qualifications for office can be found on the SOS website at:

2. The Missouri LP can help you setup a campaign website. The Missouri LP can host the website, find a volunteer to help design your site and provide you with a campaign e-mail address.

3. The Missouri LP maintains an e-mail list for candidates and their staff so you can exchange ideas on how to best run your campaign.

4. The Missouri LP State Convention is March 6th in Jefferson City. This is a good opportunity for candidates to meet other candidates and libertarians.

5. The Missouri LP can provide you with contact information for libertarian leaning voters in your district.

6. The National Libertarian Party has a program called Ballot Base which can be used by campaigns to get out the vote by telephone.

7. For the first time, the Missouri LP is seriously considering hosting 2-6 candidate forums across the state prior to the primary the first week in August. This will be an opportunity for the media, libertarians and the public to meet our candidates. This would also be an opportunity to do video interviews of candidates for You Tube and obtain candidates interviews for a special candidate issue of the Show Me Freedom Newsletter.

8. The Misouri LP can help those candidates whose campaign contribution levels do not require them to find a treasurer and form a campaign committee with their Federal Election Commission or Missouri Ethics Commission paperwork.

If you are interested in running for office as a Libertarian in 2008 please contact the Missouri LP by e-mail at info@lpmo.org or by phone at 877-VOTE-4-US (877-868-3487).
